Cheap flights to Thailand: Bangkok and Phuket fares and how to save
Real fares to Bangkok and Phuket from London, Frankfurt, New York, Sydney and Dubai: lowest and typical prices, the cheapest months and how to choose the airport.
Thailand remains one of the most loved destinations: a warm sea, developed infrastructure and a variety of resorts. The flight is long, so the ticket price noticeably affects the budget. Here is what it really costs and how to fly for less.
All prices are one-way fares in US dollars from HotTrip search data of October 31, 2026, for departures from November 2026 to March 2027. "Typical" is the median of the lowest fare for each departure date.
What it costs from five cities
- London: from $334 on November 10 (2 stops, to Bangkok). Typical price $404. November is cheapest (median $383), December the most expensive ($459).
- Frankfurt: from $324 on November 26 (1 stop, to Phuket). Typical price $363. November is cheapest (median $347), December the most expensive ($483).
- New York: from $289 on March 13 (1 stop, to Bangkok). Typical price $513. March is cheapest (median $354), December the most expensive ($783).
- Sydney: from $207 on January 19 (1 stop, to Phuket). Typical price $334. January is cheapest (median $231), December the most expensive ($632).
- Dubai: from $170 on November 4 (1 stop, to Bangkok). Typical price $253. November is cheapest (median $226), December the most expensive ($297).
The pattern is clear: December is the most expensive month from every city, and the cheapest months are the ones just before and after the holiday peak. The gap can be large: from New York a typical December fare was $783 against $354 in March.
Where to fly: Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Samui
- Bangkok (BKK, DMK) is the capital and the main air hub. Many flights go here, and from here it is easy to reach Pattaya by bus or taxi. See where to stay in Bangkok.
- Phuket (HKT) is the largest island, with beaches and entertainment and many direct flights in season. See Phuket beaches.
- Pattaya has no airport of its own: the nearest is U-Tapao (UTP) or Bangkok. See Pattaya.
- Samui (USM) and Krabi (KBV) are calmer resorts, often with a connection in Bangkok. See Koh Samui and Krabi and Ao Nang.
Choose the airport by the kind of holiday and by price: sometimes it is cheaper to fly to Bangkok and continue yourself.
When to fly
- November to March: the dry and sunny season, with the highest demand and prices (especially in December and January).
- April to May: hot, but cheaper.
- June to October: the rainy season, with lower prices. The sea can be rough on the west coast (Phuket), while Samui is often calmer then. See when to go to Phuket.
How to save on tickets
- Book ahead. For high season, 4-6 months before: when to book cheap flights.
- Compare direct flights and connections. A flight with one stop can be cheaper: flights with a layover.
- Use the price calendar in the HotTrip flight search and look at nearby dates.
- Watch hot deals: airline sales.
- Count baggage. For long trips you almost always need it: checked baggage rules.
Before you go
Entry rules depend on your passport and change, so check them before you buy. An electronic registration, proof of accommodation and a return ticket may be required. Thailand has approved a new tourist fee for foreign visitors from early 2027: see Thailand tourist fee of 450 baht. Take out travel insurance, and if you travel with a child check flying with a child.
