Nha Trang: areas, beaches and where to stay, and how to get from the airport
Where to stay in Nha Trang for a first visit, how the city is laid out, how to get from Cam Ranh airport and what to know about the season.
Nha Trang is the best-known beach city in Vietnam and the main diving center in the country. According to Wikivoyage, it is livelier and more urban than Mui Ne and Phu Quoc. Because of the history of the region there are many Russian-language signs here, and in the tourist area there are sometimes more of them than English ones.
How the city is laid out
Nha Trang stretches along a wide bay and the city beach. In the center of the tourist part there are many hotels, cafes and shops, so for a first visit it is convenient to stay closer to the seafront. The other options:
- The central seafront. The beach, restaurants and evening walks are close, but it is noisy.
- Calmer areas to the north and south. Less bustle and often more spacious rooms.
- Resorts on islands and on the cape. Suitable for a closed-format holiday with a transfer.
Getting there
Cam Ranh airport (CXR) is about 30 km south of the city. It is the fourth busiest in Vietnam and operates on the site of a former military base. The terminals are next to each other, and the walk between international and domestic is under five minutes. You reach the city by taxi, transfer or bus. Allow about 40-60 minutes for the road.
Season and weather

- Take out insurance: diving and boat excursions are not always covered.
